Prague is the centuries-old capital of Bohemia, with cobbled streets, countless spiers, bridges and cathedrals reflected in the mirror-like waters of the Vltava. Interesting places in Prague that are worth visiting are located almost everywhere, so even a beginner can easily find what to see and visit in Prague on his own.

The capital city is located on nine huge hills, due to which it received its second unofficial name - "Northern Rome", and due to its special aura and landscapes, it is also called "the city of a thousand towers".

The city, which has preserved its medieval appearance, is at the same time a modern and lively epicenter of large-scale events, endless energy, gastronomic abundance and a unique culture.

What to see in Prague and its surroundings

The territory of the city covers an area of about 500 sq. km, and to see as many sights, amazing places as possible and learn the mentality of the indigenous people, a tourist will not have enough even a few months of long daily walks. Therefore, if you are going to visit the capital of the Czech Republic for just a few days, the first step is to equip yourself with comfortable shoes and carefully plan your walking route.

The best route for a tourist who wants to plunge into Prague's uniqueness and feel the full range of emotions from the sight of the greatest buildings of architecture is a walking tour that starts from the very heart of the city - Old Town Square and finishes at the gates of one of the castles in the suburbs.

Adhering to this route, the tourist will slowly get enough of Czech culture by visiting nine main attractions.

  • Stone Old Town Square, surrounded by buildings erected in several architectural styles: baroque, rococo, gothic, renaissance. Fairs, folk festivals and street music performances take place here.

The main attractions of the area:

  • MedievalThe Charles Bridge, laid across the Vltava River, crowning the main districts of Mala Strana and Old Town, is an area worth taking a walk in Prague in the evening. And the legends and undisclosed secrets about the bridge attract connoisseurs of mysticism here.

  • Prague Castle - the former residence of the Czech kings and the present - the president of the country. It is an ancient fortress with figured towers, lush gardens and a huge palace complex. At this point, it is recommended to visit the Cathedral of St. Vitus and Zlata street.
