Estonia is a prosperous European country with a high standard of living, so you shouldn't assume that prices are low here. They are ordinary European ones. Let's take a look at the prices in Tallinn for food, hotels, transport. Knowing them, you can easily calculate how much your trip to Estonia will cost. At the end of the article, we will calculate the cost of the trip to Tallinn.

Food prices in Tallinn in 2021

Do you think you can eat very cheaply? No matter how it is. Let's see what are the prices for food in Tallinn in 2021.

In general, food prices are not encouraging, especially in Old Tallinn. If you look at Old Hansa, you will see that the cheapest meat dish costs 14 euros. Beer 0.5 l - from 6 euros (I am sadly reminded of Prague with beer for 1 euro). Or take the Reval cafe: main courses from 11 euros, desserts from 2.20 to 8 euros, salads from 5.5 euros.

In Tallinn, we ate in a popular tavern III Draakon in the building of the Town Hall. It is known for its medieval surroundings, low prices and a colorful hostess. All food is only 1-3 euros! Awesome elk soup costs 2 euros, pies 1.5 euros. Drinks are more expensive - 2-3.5 euros. The portions are small but the food is delicious.

You can have an inexpensive and tasty meal in Tallinn in a cafe-canteen Lido - 3 course lunch offer from EUR 4.6. Only now Lido is located outside the Old Town. In the same canteen, we ate with pleasure in Riga - for 12 euros for two, you can have enough to eat.

We have a selection of places to eat in Tallinn for a reasonable price. Use it!

Products are best bought in the supermarket. Maxima - there are good discounts and a large selection. Is there some more Rimi and Prisma... Prices for some products in Tallinn in 2021 (for example, Maxima):

  • discount oranges cost from 0.90 euros,
  • bananas - from 0.60 euros,
  • sausages 250 g - from 0.80 euros,
  • white bread 500 g - from 0.60 euros,
  • Camembert cheese 250 g - from 1.5 euros.

If you buy at a discount, it turns out inexpensive!

It is especially pleasing that in Estonia and other European countries you can buy cheap real quality cheeses, which have not been in stores in Russia since the adoption of the sanctions. Cheese is one of the main reasons for us to travel to Europe. We ate almost the same cheese.

Prices for hotels in Tallinn

In the low season, prices for hotels and hostels in Tallinn are reasonable. We lived in November almost at the Town Hall Square in the Knight House Hostel. Our double standard with breakfast cost € 30, which was the best value for money we found for our dates. The hostel is good, we recommend it! Where to stay in Tallinn →

In general, you can find options even cheaper - even from 16 euros for a double room, but their reviews are worse. IN Old town many hotels and hostels for 20-50 euros per day, there are even apartments. 3 and 4 * hotels cost from 50 euros. During the summer season and New Year's holidays, prices increase.

We advise you to book hotels in advance, even if you are traveling out of season - believe me, there are a lot of tourists even at this time. We booked a month before the trip. It is better to look for housing on the Roomguru.ru service - there you will find the best price.

How to save on train tickets to Tallinn from Moscow (advice from our reader Sergey Smirnov):

From Moscow, the most convenient way to get to Kingisepp is by train. The reserved seat Moscow - Kingisepp costs 1,500 rubles (there are a couple of seats even for 900 rubles) + Kingisepp seat - Tallinn (in the morning, as you sleep well, you just switch to another carriage, you don't even get off the train. mostly on the border to stand) costs 1000 rubles. Total: 2500. A direct reserved seat Moscow - Tallinn on the same date for the same train costs 5000. Savings - 50%. But such a trick with the ears needs to be done a little in advance - Russian Railways does not lay out so many intermediate places, and they can be quickly disassembled.

How much does a trip to Tallinn cost

So the verdict: prices in Tallinn are average by European standards, they won't hit the budget too much. You can save a little if you eat and live outside the Old Town. However, how appropriate this is is a question. One or two days will be enough to explore the main sights of Tallinn, so the total cost of the trip will not be too high.
